Magical Markets on the Sunshine Coast
The Sunshine Coast is a hub of activity with many talented and friendly individuals living and working here. The markets are a fantastic way to get a taste of this culture and spend your weekend morning.
Eumundi Market
In the delightful and historic town of Eumundi, this market is a definite must. The markets began in 1979 and were quickly described as an outdoor gallery. With heritage listed fig trees encompassing you, you can peruse through the stalls, which sell a wonderfully eclectic mix of locally produced goods and crafts - so much so you will want to pile your rental car high with your purchases.
There are 500 stalls altogether, and some of the beautiful things you will find include original artworks, sculptures, furniture, handmade toys, home decor pieces, skincare, fashion and jewellery, and of course food.
You will want to show up with an empty stomach so you can fill up on the taste delights served here. While you shop and talk to vendors, live, world-class musicians will play great tracks. There are also face painters (which make the day that much more fun for your little ones), massage therapists and people offering henna tattoos.
The market takes place every Wednesday from 8:00am-1:30pm and Saturday from 7:00am-2:00pm, rain or shine.
Cotton Tree Markets
The Cotton Tree Markets take place every Sunday from 7:00am-12:00pm and will have your Sunday off to a lively start. The stalls are packed with everything from baking to shells. Aiming to support local artisans' designers and inventors, this market is always a great showcase of the talented individuals of the Sunshine Coast.
For fresh produce, the Caloundra Country Markets are the place to go, and for a range of stunning handicrafts head to the Maleny Handicraft Markets on Sunday mornings.
