For those more seasoned surfers who love to long board, there are some places on the Sunshine Coast that you have to check out. Before you take off to find these locations, get a car hire in Sunshine Coast sorted. Having your own car will give you the freedom to get to hit these surf spots when you want to, with your own board.
Noosa National Park
The park is one of Australia's most frequently visited and is a hot spot for surfers of all levels of experience. The strong currents here make for great surf but mean you should be particularly careful. Stick to patrolled beaches with lifeguards around.
Alexandra Headland
This beach is popular with surfers and will suit those who are more experienced on their board. Go to the break off the headland if you want a moderate high swell. If you'd like to give surfing a go but haven't had the opportunity before, there are regular lessons that can get you well on your way to taking to the waves like a pro.
Moffat headland
This scenic and unpatrolled local surf spot is not as well known but is a great place to go to catch some waves. The beach is north facing and isn't protected from south-easterlies - it's great for longboards in the small and bigger swells. Because it isn't regulated by lifeguards, only check out these waves if you're an experienced surfer, strong swimmer and accompanied by a group.
All of these locations specialise in long smooth, right hand rides all year around. Even when the swell is small, you'll be able to get some great surfing in.
Before you head off to the surf locations, check out the up-to-date weather conditions.
